What is corten? And why is it perfect for your garden?

If you’ve ever seen beautifully rusted garden features that look warm, natural and timeless... Chances are they’re made from Corten steel. But what exactly is it, and why is it so popular in garden design?

Corten is a special type of steel designed to form a protective rust layer when exposed to the elements. Unlike normal steel, it doesn't rust through the material, the rust can be a  protective outer barrier.

Corten steel is a popular choice in gardens because:

How long will it take to become rusty?

Your product will arrive silver/ grey and will start weathering withing in days and fully develops patina over several weeks (wet weather will speed up progress).

Please also be aware during the rusting process the rust may run off and stain anything touching so avoid placing on anything light coloured to begin with.
